Project Origin
The Ochocast project was born three years ago, as part of an educational project in the SIGL (Information Systems and Software Engineering) program at EPITA. It was initiated by Swann Brunet, who identified the need for an open and collaborative video broadcasting solution.
From the start, the project was part of the PAE (In-depth and Experimentation Project) format, a program that exposes students to real business challenges. The goal: develop concrete solutions while experimenting with modern methods and technologies.
Each year, a new team of students takes over the existing work, analyzes it, and improves it. This transmission from one class to the next allows the project to gradually enrich itself, evolve with feedback from supervisors and involved professionals, and strengthen its community dimension.
Today, Ochocast is much more than a simple academic exercise: it's a living open source application, shaped by several generations of students and driven by a common vision: making video capture and broadcasting accessible to all, without dependence on proprietary solutions.
